Elma Claudine Basler, age 72, a resident of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Consultant Health Care Center in Chattanooga.
Mrs. Basler was born January 2, 1941 in Grenada, Miss. She moved to Harriman when she was 13 years old. She continued to live in Harriman until her move to Chattanooga.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a faithful Christian, and a member of the Church Of God of Prophecy in Harriman.Â
Before her retirement she worked as a clerk at Coalfield Convenient Store, and she was a housekeeper the last few years before her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Woods, and mother, Ollie Belle Minga Woods; grandson, Stephen Lawson; and brother, Billy Woods.
Sister Basler is survived by her sons, Perry Basler and wife Tammy of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Michael Basler and wife Pamela of Wartburg, and Russell Basler and wife Brenda of Oneonta, Ala.; by daughters, Cynthia Richards and husband Tim of Birmingport, Ala., and Angela Lawson of Charleston, S.C.; and by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, Randy Woods of Knoxville; by sisters, Jean Adcock of Harriman, Barbara Hall of Kingston, and Brenda Shooster of Kingston; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 31, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sean Landis and Pastor Herman Woods officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Roane Memorial Gardens in Harriman.
