Dallas Marshall Ricker

Dallas Marshall Ricker, age 63, a resident of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Jan. 25, at his home while surrounded by his family.

Mr. Ricker was born on May 17, 1949, in Athens, Tenn. He moved to Oliver Springs during his early childhood and continued to live here until he was 13, when he moved to Columbus, Ga. He moved back to Oliver Springs in 1971.

Dallas was a Christian and he was saved at Moran Baptist Church. He was also a master at repairing anything. His family said, “If it could be made, Dallas Ricker could fix it.”

He co-owned and co-operated Davenport Tree and Landscaping. He was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, and he also rode a Can-Am Spyder Motorcycle. He enjoyed fishing the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Mr. Ricker was preceded in death by his father, Hershell Ricker; by brothers, Butch Gibbs and David; by a sister, Polly Jean; by his grandmother, Tilda Lamb; and by his in-laws, Rev. Bill and Lois Bass.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Bass of Clinton; by his mother, Hazel Lindsey of Sweetwater; by a son, Tony E. Ricker and wife Misty of Columbia, Ga.; by daughters, Taynia Ricker-Bell and husband Wade of Knoxville, and Mandi Ricker and her companion Derek James of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren, Tony Swanger and wife Cassidy, Marshall Swanger, Josh, Logan and Tabitha Ricker; and by a great-granddaughter, Patricia Jane Swanger.

He is also survived by sisters, Neomi Davenport and husband David of Clinton, Joan Ricker of Medina, Ohio, Catherine Ricker and husband Leon of Decatur, Tenn., and Susan Clegg and husband Michael of Medina, Ohio; by brothers, Clay Ricker and wife Isabel of Akron, Ohio, Lee Ricker of Medina, Ohio, and Stephen Ricker and wife Debbie of Medina, Ohio; by his extended family and the children and spouses of Rev. Bill and Lois Bass; and by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family received friends Monday, Jan. 28, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the church with Pastor Terry Braden and Pastor Mark Bass officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Mineral Springs Cemetery.
