Rheba Hackworth, age 71, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Jan. 24, at her home while surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Hackworth was born Sept. 21, 1941, in the Fork Mountain Community in Anderson County. She moved to the lower camp of Windrock Mountain in 1955. Following her marriage, she lived in Louisiana and Georgia before moving back to Oliver Springs in 1960.
Rheba was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and special friend to all that knew her. She was a faithful Christian and a member of the Orchard View Baptist Church.
Before her retirement, she was employed at Roane Hosiery, J.C.Penney, Oliver Springs Flower and Garden, and Continuum Courtyards of Oak Ridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Frederick; by her beloved children, Regina Hackworth and Johnnie Randall Hackworth; by a sister, Callie Laws; and by three brothers, Herman Frederick, James Frederick, and Walter Frederick, Jr.
Rheba is survived by her husband of 55 years, Johnnie Hackworth of Oliver Springs; by a daughter, Lisa Simpson of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren whom she raised, Brittany and Garrett Bishop, and additional grandchildren, Destiny Hackworth, Kari Thomas Bowman, and Amber Copenhaver; and by great-grandchildren, Jaden and Chase Copenhaver.
She is also survived by sisters, Carolyn Turner and husband Greg of Clinton, Lorene Davis of Clinton, and Ann Oldham of Florida; and by several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Marsha Miller.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 27, between 2 and 4 p.m. at Orchard View Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the church with Pastor Matt Reed and Pastor Jeff Hughes officiating.
Burial and graveside services will be held Monday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
