Jimmie Lee Manis

Jimmie Lee Manis, 86, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Jan. 10 at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1926, in Brandon, Miss., to parents James Henry Sanders and Cornelia Akers Sanders.

Jimmie was a member of West Village Christian Church, which she dearly loved as well as dearly loving her family. She enjoyed quilting, reading, and travel.

She retired as a nurse, having worked for over 20 years at Methodist Medical Center and at Parkway Cardiology.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Manis Sr.; sister, Ruby; and by brother, John.

Her survivors include son, James Robert Manis “Bobby”; daughters, Nancy Lay (Floyd), Wanda Clark; grandchildren, Loretta Coates (Todd), Ben Manis (Malinda), Gabe Lay (Jessica), Brent Lay, and, Jimmye Chapman (Casey); and great-grandchildren, Cora, Alex, Chris, Vince, Michael, and Megan.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Bruce Martin officiating.

The graveside service will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m.
