Leon C. Lough

Leon C. Lough, age 83, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Monday, Jan. 7, at the Life Care Center of Morgan County.

Mr. Lough was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Oliver Springs. Following his military discharge, he lived in Merrillville, Ind., for 30 years, moving back to Oliver Springs in 1985.

Leon was a retired iron worker and boilermaker. He retired from J&L Steel Inc. in Indiana following 30 years of employment. He was a member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Lough served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For his significant accomplishments and contributions to the U.S. Army, he received several medals, decorations, citations, and ribbons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Lough; by a son, Mikey Lough; by a infant daughter; by parents, Mikey and Lena Smith Lough; by brothers, Alvin and Luther Lough; by sisters, Helen Brown and Gladys Hensley; and by nephews, Brian Strickland and Ivan Parks.

He is survived by brothers, Albert Lough and wife Lillie Faye, and Lloyd Lough of Oliver Springs; by a sister, Ester Parks of Briceville; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends, including a special nephew, David Lough.

Burial and graveside services, with full military honors, will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Morgan officiating.
