Charlie Roach

Charlie Roach, age 87, of Clinton, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 6, at NHC Healthcare in Oak Ridge.

Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He enjoyed the holidays with his family. Charlie was an avid fox hunter all his life, loved his hound dogs and his hunting buddies. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Charlie retired from Clinton Utilities Board after 45 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mae Roach; sons, Arthur Lynn Roach and Randall Roach; sisters, Drusilla Roach, Katherine Nichols, Alice Currier, Lorene Rhea, and Carrie Wilhoit; brother, S.P. Roach; and son-in-law, Richard Dixon.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Gilbert Roach of Clinton; daughters, Beverly Wilshire and husband Delmer of Clinton, and Michelle Dixon of New York; son Rodney Roach and wife Sheila of Clinton; daughter-in-law Ziena Roach; sisters, Louise Long and Ruth Roach, both of Clinton, and Ruby Wilhoit of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren Chris Roach, Candice Bickmore, Shawna Watson, Marissa Wilshire, Titan Long, and Josh Roach. Charlie also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family would like to thank all those that took good care of Charlie at NHC Healthcare Center, where he was loved very much.

Charlie’s family will receive his friends on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 12 to 2 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. David Phillips officiating. His interment will follow his service at the Blowing Springs cemetery in Clinton with full military honors.
