Elizabeth Joy Smith, age 58, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Dec. 6, at Methodist Medical Center.
She was born May 8, 1954, in Oak Ridge, the daughter of James and Wanda Willey Summers.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had worked for 20 years as a teacher’s assistant at Woodland Elementary School.
She was a long-time member of New York Avenue Church of Christ. She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother and the type of person everyone would like to have as a friend.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Stanley Theron Smith; daughter, Lacey A. Smith; son, Theron Christopher Smith of Wisconsin; and sister, Susan Shular and husband Gary of Knoxville.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at New York Avenue Church of Christ. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to New York Avenue Church of Christ, 219 New York Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
