Two roads could occasionally be closed during sewer line work

A sewer line that runs underneath Oak Ridge Turnpike will be replaced, and two roads on the east end of town could occasionally be closed starting today and ending in January, a city press release said.

The two roads, Science.Gov Way and Brisbane Road, could also have intermittent traffic interruptions or temporary lane closures through Jan. 11, the release said.

The construction work will relocate a sewer line that runs from Cairo Road on the south side of Oak Ridge Turnpike to Athens Road on the north side of the Turnpike.

Performed by a city contractor, Morgan Construction Inc., the project will relocate the sewer line and replace it with a larger one.

“If possible, motorists are requested to avoid the area,” the press release said. “However, local traffic will be able to access area businesses.”

The city said Warehouse Road and Brussels Road will be available as alternative routes.

“The city apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause,” the release said.
