Georgia Marnella Davis

Georgia Marnella Davis, age 70, a resident of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Jefferson City, Tenn. She moved to Oak Ridge during her early childhood, where she continued to live until her move to Clinton in 2008.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of the New York Avenue Church Of Christ in Oak Ridge.

Before her retirement, she was employed as a beautician.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mae Shelton; by a brother, Lowell Shelton; and by sisters, Helen Davis and Statsie Barker.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Boyd Allen Davis of Clinton; by children, Lowell Smith and wife Lisa of Mims, Fla., Macia Hamarani of Tucker, Ga., James Davis and wife Katie of Clinton; step-daughter, Debbie Denton and husband Jeff of Oliver Springs; and a step-son, Richard Burns of Atlanta, Ga.; and by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a brother, Tillman “Till” Shelton and wife Martha of Oak Ridge; by sisters, Zora Seaton of Oak Ridge, Ina Hutto of Clinton, Anna Jo Shelton of Oak Ridge, and Jan Hilliean of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and by nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

Graveside services and burial will be held Monday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating.
