The Anderson County Commission will have a public hearing on Monday, Dec. 10, to hear citizens’ concerns about the Andersonville Volunteer Fire Department’s proposal to start a subscription/membership service.
The public hearing will start at 7 p.m. in Room 312 of the Anderson County Courthouse at 100 N. Main St. in Clinton.
Because of the public hearing, the Dec. 10 Operations Committee will start at 5 p.m. in Room 312 and the Nominating Committee will start at 6:30 in Room 118A.

After hearing stories of other department pay before spray. I would have concerns about any subscription based fire department. I understand they need to be funded but I am not sure that is the right answer.

I talked to Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank on Monday, and she said she has answered more calls on this subject than on any other topic. I have a copy of the letter sent out to Andersonville residents explaining this change, and I will post it as soon as I can. I expect the Dec. 10 hearing will be lively.
