The annual championship regatta for the Southeastern Intercollegiate Rowing Association is in Oak Ridge on Saturday and Sunday.

SIRA has been racing on Melton Hill Lake in east Oak Ridge for more than 40 years. They have been a partner of the Oak Ridge Rowing Association longer than anyone, the ORRA said.

“The SIRA regatta marks the end of year regatta for some teams, a prep for Nationals for others, and a qualification for the IRA for some,” the ORRA said. “Expect great racing from the best Southeast intercollegiate teams and select others from around the U.S.”

Here are upcoming regattas, with a list shared by Explore Oak Ridge:

Dogwood Junior Championship Regatta

April 26-28, 2024: ORRA hosts the Dogwood Junior Championship Regatta, where top teams from the Southeast and Midwest compete in their last full race before USRowing Regional races and national selections.

American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship

May 10-12, 2024: Join ORRA and the AAC in crowning the 2024 AAC Championship team, earning a qualification spot in the 2024 NCAA Division I Championship, with AAC traditionally racing on Sunday and practices on Friday.

American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship

May 17-19, 2024: The American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship at Melton Hill Lake brings together collegiate “club” teams from more than 35 states, crowning individual boat class and team champions.

Dogwood Masters “Old Dog” Regatta

June 1, 2024: ORRA hosts the Dogwood Masters “Old Dog” Regatta, marking the unofficial start of the Masters Summer racing for adults 21 and older, including USRowing’s Southeast Regionals and finishing with the Masters National Championships.

Secret City Head Race

October 12-13, 2024: ORRA hosts the Secret City Head Race on Melton Hill Lake, featuring traditional downstream (Saturday) and throwback upstream (Sunday) 5000m race courses, offering racing for various categories over two days.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
