Karns defeated Oak Ridge 13-3 in the first round of the District 3-AAA baseball tournament on Thursday.

David Clary, sports broadcaster for Oak Ridge at Prepradio.com, said Wildcats senior Matthew Swigert scored one run against Karns and knocked in two more.

The Wildcats will play Campbell County at 8 p.m. Friday at Powell in the second round of the district tournament, Clary said. The Friday night game between Oak Ridge and Campbell County is an elimination game, meaning the season will be over for the loser. Clary said Oak Ridge swept the Cougars during the regular season.

With its win over Oak Ridge on Thursday, Karns advanced to play Powell in the second round of the District 3 Tournament, Clary said.
