The presidential and county primary elections are today in Tennessee.
It’s Super Tuesday, and voters in 14 states, including Tennessee, will help select the Democratic Party nominee for president. More than 1,300 delegates are at stake.
Candidates still running for president in the Democratic primary are former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii.
Other candidates appear on the ballot, but they have ended or suspended their campaigns. That includes candidates who have dropped out in the past few days: Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer.
The incumbent, President Donald Trump, has one challenger in the Republican primary: Bill Weld, a former Massachusetts governor who was the 2016 Libertarian vice presidential candidate. Former U.S. Representative Joe Walsh appears on the ballot, but he has ended his campaign.
There are two uncontested elections in the Republican primary in Anderson County. Ann Coria is campaigning to complete the unexpired eight-year term of Tom Marshall as public defender in the Seventh Judicial District in Anderson County. Marshall retired in September, about three years before his term expires, and Coria was appointed to replace him by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee in October. In the other uncontested race, Anderson County Property Assessor Johnny Alley is seeking a third four-year term. There are no Democratic candidates for public defender or property assessor.
Also on the ballot are delegates for presidential candidates in the Republican primary.
