Oak Ridge resident Jerry Creasey is seeking re-election to the Seventh District seat on the Anderson County Commission in the county general election on Thursday, August 2.
Creasey grew up in High Point, North Carolina, where he attended High Point College and graduated from Guildford Technical Institute in Electronics Technology following his four years of service with the United States Air Force as a B-47 Radar and Weapons In-flight Trouble Shooter, a press release said. Coming to Oak Ridge in 1968 to work at the Y-12 plant, Creasey retired as radio systems manager after 27 years of service. He has since been involved with his wife’s small telecommunications business.
Creasey has served as chairman of the Anderson County Commission, as well as chairman of the Legislative, ADA Oversight, Computer, Legislative, and the Veterans Committees. He is presently serving on the ADA Oversight, Broadband, and Budget committees.
Creasey said his hard work on the County Commission helped bring a much-needed second ambulance station, a General Sessions Court, and a Veteran’s, Trustee, and County Clerk’s offices to Oak Ridge, and to bring water and sewer to many rural areas of Anderson County.
“These accomplishments come from years of working closely with our citizens, civic groups, other elected officials, and local businesses,” the press release said.
As a community leader, Creasey has served on the Daniel Arthur, March of Dimes, Anderson County 911, Clinch River Home Health, Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation, and the Anderson County Rescue Squad Board of Directors, the press release said.
“I will continue my hard work, and give my strong support for education, economic development, and the safety and welfare of all citizens of Anderson County,” Creasey said.
Creasey is married to Tanyia Routh, they have two children, two godchildren, and eight grandchildren. Jerry and Tanyia are members of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, the press release said.
The election is Thursday, August 2.
