One lane of a short section of Oak Ridge Turnpike will be closed this week.
“Southern Contractors Inc., working under contract to the City of Oak Ridge, will have the outside eastbound lane of Oak Ridge Turnpike from Lafayette Drive to East Division Road closed starting Monday, July 23, at 7 a.m.,” a press release said.
The work is necessary to set new forms along the roadways as part of the Intersection Improvement Project, and it is expected to last until the evening of Wednesday, July 25, the press release said.
“Drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists are urged to use extreme care and caution when traveling along this section of roadway,” the press release said.
The City of Oak Ridge advised residents to take alternate routes whenever possible.
“We apologize for any inconvenience the closure may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,” the City of Oak Ridge said. “Please note that all construction work is subject to change based on such unknowns as weather, equipment, and access issues.”
Questions can be directed to the Oak Ridge Public Works Department by calling (865) 425-1875 or by emailing [email protected].
More information will be added as it becomes available.
