Victory and pollinator gardens at the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge will be open to the public on Saturday, June 1, the Manhattan Project National Historical Park said.
The gardens will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 1 for the Seeds of Victory Program, the park said in a newsletter.
“Get your hands dirty, plant your seeds and sprouts to take home for the summer growing season, and learn about the history of victory gardens and rationing across the American homefront,” the park said.
Access to the Victory Gardens is by the east driveway to the rear of the museum. The Children’s Museum is at 461 West Outer Drive.
The Manhattan Project was a top-secret federal program to build the world’s first atomic weapons during World War II. The Manhattan Project National Historical Park commemorates the people, buildings, equipment, and programs of that project. Besides Oak Ridge, the unique park includes Hanford, Washington, and Los Alamos, New Mexico.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
