Bob’s Washboard Laundromat, the only wash and fold service in Anderson County, has been named the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Month for February 2024, a press release said.
“This award recognizes Bob’s Washboard Laundromat’s unique business concept, their commitment to providing superior service to their clients, as well as their contributions to the Oak Ridge community,” the press release said.
Bob’s Washboard Laundromat was founded in October 2010 by Robert Burseth. In the summer of 2023, he remodeled and relocated the business to 113 Robertsville Road in Oak Ridge, which now includes a wash and fold service inside. There are traditional self-serve washers and dryers available, but unlike most, their laundromat has attendants available to assist patrons, the press release said.
Additionally, there is a pick-up and delivery option for Oak Ridge businesses and residents, as well as an after-hours drop-off chute next to the main entrance of the building. The facility also has high-top tables and televisions for people to watch while they wait.
“We are committed to providing an environment whereby our customers look forward to bringing their clothes to us,” Burseth said. “Providing the Oak Ridge area with a unique community-based business is at the forefront of our mission and business practices.”
Bob’s Washboard Laundromat is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday. They are currently closed on Sundays for wash and fold services specifically, the press release said. On Wednesdays, they offer complimentary pizza to customers from 4-6 p.m. They also partner with Milestone Church to offer “Loads of Love” once a month, which offers free use of washers and dryers to customers in need.
“As the weather has changed, they’ve cleaned coats at no charge for local churches, Red Cross, Cash Express, and others,” the press release said. “The community has, in turn, donated winter coats and pet food for a Leave-and-Take Drive within the laundromat for those in need.”
