The Tennessee Division of Forestry said Tuesday that the Windrock Mountain fire that began Thursday is controlled.
On Tuesday afternoon, the size of the affected area was 328 acres with a containment percentage of 95 percent.
Representatives from state forestry were still at the fire site to monitor it, officials said.
“While today’s rain (Tuesday’s rain) has helped in firefighting efforts, Anderson County Emergency Management Agency still asks citizens to not burn anything outdoors,” a statement said.
The fire was reported at about 8:13 p.m. Thursday when the Marlow Volunteer Fire Department responded to multiple reports of brush fires in the areas of Windrock Road, Frost Bottom Road, and Stoney Flat Lane.
When they arrived, emergency response crews determined it was one fire seen from multiple areas, according to a press release Friday. The fire was located between trail G2 and trail G9. Crews from Marlow Volunteer Fire Department, Oliver Springs Fire Department, Oak Ridge Fire Department, Briceville Volunteer Fire Department, the Tennessee Division of Forestry, and Anderson County Emergency Management Agency responded.
There have been no reports of injuries or damaged structures.
Officials said the East Tennessee area, including parts of Anderson County, is in an exceptional drought period with very little rain in the past few months, and they asked residents to not burn debris outdoors or drop used cigarette butts on the ground.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
