Breakfast with the Legislators begins this year on Monday.
The monthly breakfasts are scheduled each year while the Tennessee General Assembly is in session. They are hosted by the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge, and this is the 36th year they have had the breakfasts.
Monday’s breakfast is scheduled from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. January 23 in the Social Room of the Oak Ridge Civic Center at 1401 Oak Ridge Turnpike.
Senators Ken Yager and Randy McNally and representatives John Ragan and Monty Fritts have been invited to bring attendees up to date on what’s happening in the Tennessee legislature, a press release said. Members of the audience may ask questions and give opinions.
A light continental breakfast will be provided at no charge. The public is encouraged to attend.
Subsequent breakfasts will be held at the same time and place the fourth Monday of each month, February 27, March 27, and April 24, or as long as the General Assembly is in session.
“The popular community event not only offers firsthand information on upcoming legislation and House and Senate committee activities but prompts dialogue among legislators and citizens and provides a great networking opportunity for members of the community,” the press release said.
If the Oak Ridge schools are closed due to weather, Breakfast with the Legislators will be canceled.
