A man was taken to a hospital after a shooting in Andersonville on Monday morning, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at about 10:08 a.m. Monday on Defoe Road in Andersonville.
A man had gunshot wounds on his leg, said Tyler Mayes, director of administrative services for the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies found that the victim, who has not been publicly identified, had lost a large volume of blood, Mayes said in a brief media statement.
A deputy applied a tourniquet to the victim’s wound before an ambulance arrived. The victim was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville and was reported to be in surgery earlier today (Monday, November 25).
Mayes said the investigation of the shooting is active and ongoing.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
