Storm the Grove will help young musicians and raise money for the historic Grove Theater on Friday.
It’s a spoof of Area 51. Organizers said you can fly out to Nevada in hopes of seeing an alien—or save money, “storm the grove,” and be the alien you want to see. You are welcome to come dressed as your favorite space alien. There will be a cash prize for the best costume, organizers said.
Storm the Grove will spotlight Tennessee bands (musical earthlings): Zack Miles, Chloe Kimes, Nightly, and Drive Thru Therapy. One band is from Nashville, two from Knoxville, and one is based in Oak Ridge.
“Don’t miss this intergalactic gathering of eclectic vendors, talented musicians, and out-of-this-world refreshments,” a press release said.
It’s at the Grove Theater in Grove Center in Oak Ridge. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the music starts at 7.
Artists in the lobby will include a 3D printer who works at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. “He’ll be printing aliens and spacecraft onsite while you watch,” organizers said.
They said they will have great food, drinks, and beer, so come hungry.
Tickets are available online for $12 at Eventbrite or $13 at the door.
Storm the Grove is hosted by Friends of the Grove and Through the Looking Glass Antiques along with sponsor 106.1 The River.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
