Oak Ridge will play Karns in an elimination game in the District 3-AAA softball tournament at Powell tonight.

The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Monday, May 6.

Oak Ridge, the number seven seed in the district tournament, finished the regular season 18-17-1, according to the team record posted on CoachT.com.

The Lady Wildcats were bumped into the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination softball tournament with a 15-0 loss to Powell (32-6), the number two seed, on Thursday night, and they upset Central (3-24-1), the number six seed, in an elimination game late Saturday morning to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Karns (14-17), the number four seed, defeated Oak Ridge twice during the regular season, 9-3 on Tuesday, April 2, and 11-1 on Tuesday, March 12, according to the CoachT.com records.

Karns ended up in the loser’s bracket of the district tournament with a 5-3 loss to Halls on Friday.

The winner of tonight’s elimination game will advance to play the winner of a match between Powell and Clinton.

Powell was bumped to the loser’s bracket after a 1-0 upset loss to Anderson County, the number three seed, in a 10-inning game on Friday. Clinton, the number five seed, advanced by beating Campbell County, the number eight seed, in an earlier elimination game, 10-6, on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats finished 2-11 in District 3-AAA this season. Their two district wins were both against Campbell County, 21-6 on Monday, March 18, and 12-9 on Tuesday, April 9, according to the CoachT.com records.
