A man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on East Tennessee Avenue on Tuesday, authorities said.
The crash was reported at the intersection with California Avenue at about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
The Oak Ridge police and fire departments responded. Witnesses told first responders that a man lost control of the motorcycle he was riding before it crashed into a parked car on the side of the street, the City of Oak Ridge said in a press release.
The motorcycle rider had serious injuries, the press release said. An ambulance took him to the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was then flown by a Lifestar medical helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where he was treated and later released, the press release said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cause remains under investigation.
A small section of road where East Tennessee Avenue meets California Avenue had to be closed while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene, the press release said. Officers were able to reopen the road after approximately two hours.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
