Friends of the Oak Ridge Library will hold its Fall 2018 Book Sale from Thursday to Sunday in the Oak Ridge Public Library Auditorium.
“Plan to come to the Thursday evening Members Sale, then come Friday to purchase the titles you thought about buying but didn’t on Thursday,” a press release said. “Come Saturday to find half-price bargains and to place your winning bid on the Silent Auction items you want to take home. Return on Sunday to fill a bag with titles for your friends and family and the many Free Libraries scattered about town. Every day you will find a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction books and nonprint media with most titles 50 cents or $1 each.”
The Book Sale will be open to members only on Thursday evening, October 25, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Memberships ($5 for individuals, $10 for families) can be bought that evening.
Although scanning devices are not allowed at the Members Sale, they can be used Friday through Sunday.
The Silent Auction begins on Thursday evening and ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening. It will be another eclectic collection of publications and other items.
On Friday, October 26, Friends of the Oak Ridge Library will open its sale to the general public, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. Everyone who has “liked” the organization on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/foloakridge) will receive a discount card, which can be used during the sale or at the Book Nooks, the press release said.
On Saturday, October 27, the sale runs from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. All items, except the auction items, will be half price on Saturday.
The Buy-A-Bag-of-Books Sale will be on Sunday, October 28, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. A paper grocery bag (or its equivalent) full of special finds costs only $3, with Friends of the Oak Ridge Library providing the bag, the press release said.
If you would like to help with the sale, and have not yet been contacted by the Book Sale Chair Nancy Hardin, you can call her at (865) 482-4560 or send an email to [email protected]. And remember that donations of books, DVDs (digital video discs), CDs (compact discs), and other publications are always welcomed because Friends of the Oak Ridge Library uses them to fill the Book Nooks as well the shelves at the Book Sale. Donations can be left at the Library’s main desk.
The Friends of the Library (FOL) is a nonprofit organization that holds used book sales to raise funds for the Library as well as to recycle publications, supports the Library’s summer reading program for children, sponsors a book club, and takes part in other activities, all to benefit the Oak Ridge Public Library and the surrounding communities, the press release said. Membership forms are available in the library lobby or at the sale.
Contact Nancy Hardin, Book Sale chair, at (865) 482-4560 or [email protected] for more information.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
