Roane State graduation set for May 4-5

Roane State Community College will hold commencement ceremonies on May 4-5.

The ceremonies, to be held in the gym on the Roane County campus in Harriman, will be equal in presentation.

  • Friday, May 4, at 2 p.m. (EDT) for recipients of the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in nursing; Associate of Applied Science degrees in Business, Computer Information Technology, Contemporary Management, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Environmental Health Technology, General Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Mechatronics, and Paralegal Studies; and certificates in Computer Information Technology, Early Childhood Education, Geographic Information Systems, and Mechatronics.
  • Friday, May 4, at 7 p.m. (EDT) for recipients of A.A.S. degrees in allied health sciences fields, and for recipients of certificates in allied health sciences fields.
  • Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. (EDT) for recipients of Associate of Arts degrees and Associate of Science degrees (including Middle College students), recipients of the Associate of Science in Teaching, and recipients of the Associate of Fine Arts.

Please note that visitors are advised to arrive early. When the gymnasium reaches capacity, due to safety requirements, additional visitors will be directed to overflow rooms where they can watch live broadcasts of the ceremonies, a press release said. Overflow rooms will be located in the Dunbar Building.

In addition, the Saturday ceremony will also be broadcast in the Raider Room in the Vann Student Center and in the O’Brien Theatre.

Mike Krause, executive director for the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, will be the speaker for the Friday afternoon ceremony.

Jason Pilant, president and chief administrative officer for Roane Medical Center, will speak at the Friday evening ceremony.

Roane State 2017 outstanding alumna Sue Byrne, who has worked with some of the world’s largest companies, will speak at the Saturday morning ceremony.

Photographs will be available for purchase through GradImages. Graduates will have a photo taken on stage as they shake hands with Roane State President Chris Whaley and as they return to their seats. Soon after the ceremony, graduates can view and order photos at www.gradimages.com, the press release said.
