Road closures planned on Hillside Road for sewer line work

Road closures are scheduled to start Monday on Hillside Road for sewer line work.

Parts of Hillside Road will be closed intermittently throughout the day on Monday, January 8, to allow crews to replace a sewer line located near Henley Road, the City of Oak Ridge said in a press release. Local traffic will be allowed to drive to homes on Henley Road.

A full closure of Hillside Road will begin on Tuesday, January 9, to renew service connections to several homes in the area, the press release said. These connections are located under the driving surface of the roadway. Local traffic to the affected residences will be accommodated, the press release said.

“Drivers, residents, pedestrians, and cyclists are strongly urged to avoid this area,” the press release said. “However, both Henley Road and Highland Avenue will be available as detours.”

The road closures are being done by city contractor Hurst Excavating LLC as part of a sewer rehabilitation project.

“Please use extreme care and caution when traveling in these areas,” the press release said. “All construction work is subject to change based on such unknowns as weather, equipment, and access issues.”

Questions regarding the planned road closures can be directed to the Oak Ridge Public Works Department by calling (865) 425-1875 or emailing PubWorksDis@OakRidgeTN.gov.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
