The Oak Ridge High School Mu Alpha Theta Math Club is hosting its first Mini Mu for any interested middle school students.

The club will have several types of math competitions, open to all levels of middle school students, on Saturday, January 7. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and the competition is until 2 p.m. in the ORHS cafeteria, a press release said. Competitions include ciphering, individual and team tests, mental and speed math, and a poster competition.

The registration fee is $25, payable at the event, but registration is through an online form available from each middle school math teacher. There will be a T-shirt and lunch included for each participant.

“Please spread the word about this event!” organizers said. “Our club members have worked hard on writing for this competition, and are really excited to bring it to their younger friends. This is also a fundraiser that will be used to defray costs for our state and national Mu Alpha Theta competitions. You may also contact the math club sponsor at kmullins@ortn.edu for more information.”

There is a mistake in the times. Registration is from 8:30-9:00, not 8:00, and it goes to 2:00, not 1:30. Sorry for the error.
