The Oak Ridge High School Brass Quintet welcomed Santa to Jackson Square on Saturday, and the Brass Quintet will be just one of the student groups to be enjoyed at the ORHS Band Concert this Thursday.
“Band directors Spence Milligan and Mike Spirko—along with the JazzKats, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Combined Bands—invite you to come and enjoy an evening performance with a little jazz, a little jingle—and a lot of jolly!” organizers said in a press release. “The always popular annual rendition of ‘Sleigh Ride,’ by Leroy Anderson, performed by the Combined Bands will surely make your season bright!”
Organizers ask you to not forget to pull out your unused instruments from closets and attics. The ORHS Band Boosters (501c3) Instrument Drive is an ongoing event, the press release said.
“Instruments are needed more than ever with the growth in the Oak Ridge Schools Band Programs and the needs of our students,” the release said. “The instruments will be appraised with a tax receipt issued. Many donated instruments will be used on the stage at this week’s concert; the ORS Band Program truly appreciates every donated instrument!”
Please come join the talented students of the ORHS Band at 7 p.m. in the ORHS Performing Arts Auditorium on Thursday, December 8. Admission is adults $3, and students and seniors $1.
“See you there!” the release said.
