To the editor:

We are writing this letter in support of Keys Fillauer’s re-election to the Board of Education in the coming election.

Keys brings a unique perspective to the School Board. Not only did he teach at Robertsville Junior High School for 27 years and then at Oak Ridge High School for four years, he also coached basketball during his tenure at both schools.

He knows our community and its families well and is a dedicated advocate for our children. His strong leadership on the School Board over the last 15 years has guided the school system through many initiatives such as the remodeling of Oak Ridge High School and the 1:1 computer laptop program.

His patience and careful decision-making have earned the trust of not only parents, but also that of staff within the system. Whether it is reviewing the school system’s budget or visiting individual schools, Keys keenly observes details and asks important questions to strengthen our children’s education. His enthusiasm for improving the achievement of all students within our system is undeniable and an important asset to Oak Ridge.

We encourage Oak Ridgers to re-elect Keys on November 8 or to vote early October 19 to November 3.
