The Clinton Driver Services Center was scheduled to close at the end of the business day on Thursday, September 8, and re-open in Oak Ridge on Monday, September 12.
The move was announced by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
The new location is at 475 Oak Ridge Turnpike in Oak Ridge.
The Clinton Driver Services Center is located at 704 North Charles G. Sievers Boulevard in Clinton. It was scheduled to stop serving customers at the close of business this past Thursday. The new Oak Ridge facility was scheduled to be open for business this Monday (September 12).
During the move, customers can visit the Anderson County Courthouse at 100 North Main Street in Clinton and the Oak Ridge/Anderson County Clerk located a 728 Emory Valley Road in Oak Ridge.
Both of those locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. These locations can only process duplicates and renewals of non-commercial driver licenses.
“Relocating certain driver services centers is part of our plan to enhance customer service and overall efficiency at centers across the state,” Driver Services Division Assistant Commissioner Lori Bullard said in a press release.
The new driver services location will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will continue to offer full driver services, the press release said.
The mission of the Driver Services Division is to promote safe, knowledgeable, and competent drivers in Tennessee, the press release said.
The Driver Services Division is responsible for testing and issuing driver licenses as well as offering voter registration and issuance of driving records.
