Emily Stansfield, 18, of Oak Ridge, will compete for the title of Miss Tennessee USA 2017 in October in Clarksville, Tennessee. She will represent Oak Ridge with the title role of Miss Oak Ridge.
Stansfield is the daughter of Steve and Becky Stansfield. She attends Austin Peay State University, and her activities include dance, theater, writing, singing, reading, and hanging out with her cats, a press release said.
Miss Tennessee USA 2017 is October 6-8Â at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville.
The Miss Tennessee USA pageant is the official preliminary to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which are a WME/IMG joint venture, the press release said. The young woman chosen as Miss Tennessee USA will go on to represent the state of Tennessee in the 2017 Miss USA pageant, which is televised live across the nation and is one of the most anticipated events of the year, the press release said.
Stansfield’s sponsors for the Miss Tennessee USA 2017 pageant include Diversified Electric, Realty Center (Peggy Hanrahan), The Dance Centre of Oak Ridge, Southern Bliss Boutique, Realty Executives (Wendie Aurin), Orlin and Barbara Stansfield, the Hanaver family, Dave and Judy Dawson, Ron and Audrey Clark, the Proffen family, James and Carrol Brooks, and Dennis & Shirley Hatton.
Stansfield has a Miss Oak Ridge USA 2017 page on Facebook, and she also has a gofundme fundraising page.
“I hope I can represent my hometown with as much pride as possible!” Stansfield said on her gofundme page. “Never in my life would I have thought I would do anything remotely like this, but when I received the brochure for the pageant, something inside me felt like I should just jump out of my box and go for it!…
“I would like to use my title and my little time in the spotlight to raise awareness for eating disorders. I’ve seen so many friends fall under the spell of eating disorders, and I want to make sure that everyone knows that this is a serious disorder and should never be taken lightly.
“This pageant will be the first I’ve ever competed in, but I want it to be one of the most memorable experiences.”
