Omega Consultants Incorporated has been awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Army’s Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense, or JPEO-CBD, under the Department of Defense.

There were 17 companies selected for this Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity, or IDIQ, contract consisting of 10 small business awards and seven large business awards. The contract ceiling is $900 million throughout the period of performance.

Omega was the only Tennessee business selected as a prime contractor for this contract award. Omega is also a subcontractor for the Camber Corporation team that received a large business award. The contract award is for three years, with an option for three additional years. JPEO-CBD is the Joint Services single focal point for research, development, acquisition, fielding, and life-cycle support of chemical and biological defense equipment and medical countermeasures.

Omega Consultants Inc. is doing business as Omega Technical Services, an Oak Ridge woman-owned small business.

“Omega is honored to be selected to provide support to the DOD. We started our business to positively impact our national security, and we are excited to assist the JPEO-CBD with this work,” said Colleen Trapuzzano, owner and chief executive officer of Omega Technical Services. “This award expands our portfolio into the Department of Defense and has the potential to create a significant number of jobs in the East Tennessee region.”

Omega Technical Services was created in 1995 to support the U.S. Department of Energy’s nuclear weapons mission.  Today, Omega provides professional services to both the U.S. government and commercial agencies, a press release said. They specialize in nuclear and radiological operations, specialty engineering, formality of operations, and classified facility operations.

Omega is a past recipient of the Y-12 National Security Complex Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year and has a proven record of accomplishments across the U.S. and abroad in support of their government customers, the press release said.
