The City of Oak Ridge has purchased a home that burned in July on Waddell Circle.
The blighted property at 147 Waddell Circle was purchased through the Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG, program. It is slated for immediate demolition, officials said.
The home, which sustained more than 75 percent fire damage, was purchased from an owner occupant who did not have the means to remove the structure, the City of Oak Ridge said.
“The CDBG purchase allowed the owner occupant to receive (the) remaining value of the property and gave the city an opportunity to eliminate a blight dangerous property in a targeted area of acquisition,” the city said. “Once demolished, this property will be transferred to the Oak Ridge Land Bank.”
Three people escaped without injury from a fire in the two-story quadplex in mid-July.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
