Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and the state will make a significant economic development announcement in Oak Ridge on Friday afternoon, officials said.
The announcement—which will also include other federal, state, and local officials—is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, at the former Theragenics Building at Horizon Center.
Details of the announcement have not been released.
The former Theragenics Building is at 103 Palladium Way at the Horizon Center in west Oak Ridge.
It’s one of two significant events in Oak Ridge on Friday. On Friday morning, federal officials and contractors will celebrate the completion of site readiness work for the multi-billion dollar Uranium Processing Facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
Theragenics Corporation was the first company to build in the Horizon Center, a high-tech business park. The company built a $25 million medical isotope production facility and, at one time, was leasing 21 acres from the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee. Work on the approximately 65,000 square-foot Theragenics plant was completed in 2001.
More information will be added as it becomes available.
