Waste Connections trucks are “slipping and sliding” on local roads, and they won’t be picking up garbage today (Tuesday, February 24).
So, the company will begin Wednesday by picking up Tuesday’s route for refuse and recyclables, and then move on to Wednesday as time allows until workers are caught up, officials said.
Earlier, Waste Connections said it was getting a late start on Tuesday routes, and the company was planning to collect refuse and recyclables at as many locations as possible in the flatter parts of the routes by the end of the day, with any steeper locations deferred until tomorrow, the City of Oak Ridge said in a statement.
But the city sent out a second statement early Tuesday afternoon that updated the earlier statement.
Garbage pickup is just one of the many operations that have been affected by wintry weather in the past week-and-a-half.
