He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Long was a self-taught artist and excelled in drawing portraits in pastels. He also enjoyed building and remodeling his home. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of his free time fishing, hunting, and flower gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant grandson, Brandon Long.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda Jane Adkins Long; sons, Terry Long of Oak Ridge, Tim Long and wife Lynette Kegley of Seymour, and Tommy Long of Oak Ridge; brother, Steven Long and wife Connie of Knoxville; and five grandchildren, Aaron Long, Devin Long and Deegan Long, all of Oak Ridge, and Sean Long and Kris Long, both of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

The family received friends on Wednesday, December 17, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The service began at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve McDonald officiating. The burial followed at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions in Jack’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
