Obituary: Earlene Hunter Quilliams

Earlene Hunter Quilliams, age 58, of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, November 22, peacefully in the comfort of her own home.

She was born September 13, 1956, in Oliver Springs, the daughter of Naomi Taylor and Clifford Eugene Hunter.

Mrs. Quilliams was very family oriented and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was very selfless and always enjoyed taking care of others. She was described by her family as being a wonderful cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Larry Rivas; son, Joey Lee Quilliams; brothers, Ray Hunter and Otis Hunter; and sisters, Vena Carroll and Nadine McMahan.

She is survived by sons, Johnny Quilliams of Clinton and Jason Quilliams and his fiancée Victoria Morris of Oak Ridge; daughter, Amanda Vought of Oliver Springs; her significant other of 13 years, Charles “Chuck” Brewer of Oliver Springs; brothers, Jimmy Hunter, Lester Hunter and wife Lisa, Tim Hunter and wife Pamela, and Eugene Hunter and wife Wanda, all of Oliver Springs, and Dwayne Hunter of Greeneville; sisters, Peggy Silvey and husband James of Oliver Springs, Lola Blalock of Coalfield, and Rita Hunter of Oliver Springs; 10 grandchildren, Brittany Quilliams, Ashley Carroll, Robert Carroll, Savannah Quilliams, Ethan Quilliams, Zoey Kimblin, Lathan Quilliams, Brennan Nicely, Mason Quilliams, and Leeanah Quilliams; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Kinsley Earley; and special friends, Francis Darnell, Louise Neal and Brenda Earley.

The family received friends Friday, November 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service followed at 8 p.m. In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Quilliams will be cremated.

The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to Weatherford Mortuary, 158 South Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, to help defray funeral costs.
