Jefferson Thomas Tucker

Jefferson Thomas Tucker, age 69, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, November 9, at his home.

Mr. Tucker was born on May 11, 1945, in Lauderdale County, Alabama. J.T. has lived in this area since his teenage years.

J.T. worked in the construction business as a painter, but could do anything with his hands. He loved to work and cook, but most importantly he loved his family and friends.

J.T. was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Fritts Tucker; by his parents, Thomas Douglas Tucker and Katy Ann Phillips; by a brother, Donald Tucker; and by a grandchild, Whitney Danielle Tucker.

J.T. is survived by his children, Bradley Tucker, Kirsten Tucker, and Kandace Tucker of Oak Ridge, and Brian Tucker of Nashville; by grandchildren, Cruz Tucker, Taylor Tallant, Chloe Brummit, Haley Tucker, Morgan Tucker, Lakin Manley, and Madison Phillips; and by great-grandchildren, Joshua Holden Tucker and Averil Marie Tucker.

He is also survived by brothers, Ronald Tucker, Roy Tucker and wife Sloria, and Troy Tucker and wife Janet, all of Alabama; by sisters, Helen Coker, Judy Jeffreys, Mattie Lee Tatum and husband Tim, and Shelia Preston, all of Alabama; and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many special friends, including a special mother-in-law Vera Jones of Oliver Springs.

The family received friends, Wednesday, November 12, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Darren Griffis officiating. Burial and graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
