Louise “Lou” Green Fitzgerald

Louise “Lou” Green Fitzgerald, age 87, of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, October 23, at the home of her daughter, Marsha Fitzgerald Smith.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was born December 18, 1926, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Della Brummett Green, who both died young. She was raised in Burnside, Kentucky, by her aunt and uncle, Mary and Bill Huff.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a longtime member of Robertsville Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and her Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill, she was preceded in death by her sister, Clara “Jean” Fitzgerald, and grandson, Christopher “Neil” Smith.

She is survived by daughters, Linda F. Gover and husband John Anthony Gover of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Marsha F. Smith of Oak Ridge; grandson, Michael “Jeremy” Smith and wife Melanie of Oak Ridge; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Caitlyn, and Austin Smith of Oak Ridge; and many extended family members including her brother-in-law, James E. Fitzgerald and wife Margaret of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and nephew, James L. Fitzgerald and wife Ellen of Knoxville, with whom she was very close.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1, at 11 a.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with Pastor Brian Scott officiating.

The family asks that any memorials be made in her memory to her church, Robertsville Baptist Church, 251 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or to the American Brain Tumor Assn, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Chicago, IL 60631 (www.abta.org).
