Obituary: Emma Sue Honeycutt Young

Emma Sue Young

Emma Sue Honeycutt Young, age 74, of Oak Ridge and formerly of LaFollette, passed away Monday morning, October 27, at 5:34 a.m. at her home.

She was born August 10, 1940, in Campbell County to the late Sherley and Edna Dossett Honeycutt of LaFollette. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christie Gail Young Campbell; four sisters, Thelma Honeycutt Posey, Dorothy Honeycutt Millett, Nettie Honeycutt Hill, and Betty Honeycutt Brown; one brother, Sherley Honeycutt Jr.; in-laws, John L. and Myrtle D. Young; and brother-in-law, David D. Young.

Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, John Richard Young of the home; two sisters, Margie Honeycutt Watkins of Black Mountain, North Carolina, and Sherrie Honeycutt Forbus and husband Randy of King, North Carolina; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wishes to express many thanks to Gina Greeley, Kevin and Christie Brown, and Oak Ridge Church of Christ for all their love and support.

The family received friends Thursday, October 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. with Murray Wade officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park for a graveside service.

The family asks that any memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004, or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 in her memory.
