David Snider, the chief financial officer for Tech 2020, will serve as interim chief executive officer effective October 1, succeeding John Morris, who recently resigned.

The agreement was announced Tuesday by Tom Rogers, chair of the Tech 2020 board of directors.

Snider has been with Tech 2020, a nonprofit regional venture development organization, for 14 years as CFO. He will maintain his duties as CFO and fulfill the role of interim CEO until a new, permanent CEO can be recruited and hired, the press release said.

Teri Brahams, the executive director of economic and workforce development at Pellissippi State Community College and the chair-elect for Tech 2020, has agreed to chair a search committee comprised of several members of the Tech 2020 board, the release said.

“The board appreciates David’s willingness to serve as the interim president, something he has done previously,” Rogers said. “He will provide stability for Tech 2020 while we seek a new, dynamic leader for the organization.”

“I’m excited to chair the search committee that will find the next CEO of Tech 2020 to lead us as we continue to accelerate the growth of globally competitive high tech enterprises here in the (Tennessee) Valley,” Brahams said. “By bringing together entrepreneurial talent, innovative research, dynamic capital investment, and relevant community involvement, Tech2020 will always be a strong partner in the area’s economic development efforts.”
