Mildred "Millie" Lydia Strandberg

Mildred “Millie” Lydia Strandberg

Mildred “Millie” Lydia Strandberg passed away on July 6, 2014.

Millie was born in Joliet, Illinois, on June 9, 1918.

In Illinois, Millie married Elmer Strandberg (a World War II veteran), and she worked with special needs students for many years. Millie and Elmer were married for 45 years before Elmer’s passing.

Millie enjoyed playing cards, was an avid golfer, able to “golf her age” later in life, and even hit a hole-in-one in a golf tournament.

Millie later moved to Tennessee to enjoy retirement with her husband Elmer. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Oak Ridge.

Millie will be remembered for her fun-loving personality, her sense of humor, and her love of getting into mischief when no one was looking! She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be missed dearly by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Dave Strandberg.

She is survived by her son, Tom Strandberg and his wife Jane (children: Samuel and Jason Frame); her daughter, Jan Kuban (children: Scott and Dre (wife) Kuban, Jeff and Elizabeth (wife) Kuban, Rob and Jordan (wife) Kuban, and Kevin and Sarah (wife) Kuban), and six great grandchildren.

The family received friends on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral began at 12 p.m., with Rev. Nick Willborn officiating. The burial followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
