June Ellen Freels Cox, born June 18, 1953, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, peacefully at her home. She would have been 61 on June 18. June Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Freels; by her father, Berl Freels; and by her father-in-law, Luke Cox.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Christine Cox; by a sister-in-law, Teresa Gunter; by brothers-in-law, Luke E. Cox, and Jospeh Hale Cox; and by several nieces, nephews, and by a host of friends.

She was a confirmed member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge. June Ellen loved all children. She enjoyed caring for her dogs, gardening, spending time with her family, reading her Bible, and making homemade “goodies” for her grandson’s class at Woodland, as Malaki was the “joy” of her life.

She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and she was employed at Union Carbide as a secretary before becoming a homemaker.

The family received friends Saturday, June 14, 2014, between 12 and 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge. The funeral followed in the church sanctuary at 2 p.m., with Pastor William Wagner officiating. Burial followed at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
