Obituary: Shirley K. Miller

Shirley K. Miller, age 79, a resident of Devonia, Tenn., passed away, Tuesday, May 13, at the Life Care Center in Morgan County.

Mrs. Miller was born April 5, 1935, in Lexington, Missouri. She and her husband moved to Devonia, in 1974

Shirley worked as a secretary for over 20 years for the New York Life Insurance Company in Kansas City, Missouri, and Miami, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin F. and Dorothy Due McGowan; by her husband, Bert Norris Miller; and by a sister, Sandra Vogt.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Bert Norris Miller of Devonia; and by sisters, Janice F. Dinwiddie of Fresno, California, Anna L. Strain and husband Walter of Omaha, Nebraska, and Marilyn Kay Brockhoff and husband Wilbur of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

She is also survived by brothers-in-law, David Miller and wife Pat of Lake City, Florida, James Miller and wife Ponchieta of Lafollette, Steve Miller and wife Brenda of Devonia, Tennessee, and Tommy Miller of Petros; by sisters-in-law, Patsy Miller of Oak Ridge, and Lana Daugherty and husband Condy of Devonia, Tennessee; and by several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Cristy Daugherty, of Devonia.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 22, between 12 and 2 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial and graveside service will follow at Anderson Memorial Garden.
