Amos Joshua Van Hall, age 38, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, May 12, in Ten Mile, Tenn.
He was born June 21, 1975, in Saratoga Springs, New York. Amos graduated from the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, N.Y. He served with the U.S. Army from 1994-2003 as a military police officer. Prior to moving to Tennessee to work at B&W Y-12, he worked as a police officer in Gainesville, Fla. He had worked in security at Y-12 for the past 10 years. He and his wife and children also owned and operated a Crossfit Gym.
Amos and his family attended Ridgepoint Church. He enjoyed hiking and participating in triathlons.
He is survived by his wife of three years, Laura Stephens Van Hall; son, Jarod Van Hall and his mother, Trish Van Hall of Oak Ridge; stepchildren, Jasmine, Jaden, and Joshua Morrow; mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Ray Vaughn of St. Augustine, Fla.; half-brothers, Buck and Casey Vaughn; father and stepmother, Charles and Julia Van Hall of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; half-brothers and sisters, Ryen, Izzy, and Lilli Van Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Ridgepoint Church, 8000 River Drive in the Solway Community. The memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Robert Melton officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the TN Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville.
