Joan Frances Roberts, age 73, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, May 11, at her home.
Mrs. Roberts was born on May 28, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan and she has lived in Oliver Springs since 1989. She was a homemaker and a member of the Corbin Hill Baptist Church in Coalfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Bertoli and Lenora Hurt Bertoli; by two sons, Robert Turner and Carl Eugene Roberts; one daughter, Donna Sue Roberts; by grandsons, Jimmy Hunt, David Midkiff, and Jordan Phillips; and by brothers, Robert Lee Bertoli and David Bertoli.
Joan is survived by her husband, Don Roberts of Oliver Springs; by eight children, William Drake and wife Pamela, of Southgale, Mich., Edward Turner and wife Linda of Harriman, Debora Hale and husband David of Taylor, Mich., Julie Kanipes and husband Benjamin of Clinton, Michael Midkiff and partner Nick Bliesner of Plant City, Fla., Kathy Lee Bowman and husband Andy of Flowery Branch, Ga., Wayne Roberts and wife Carolyn of Oliver Springs, and Anita Ledford of Lake City; and by 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, Donald Bertoli of Fountain Valley, Calif.; by a sister, Elizabeth Upham of Oliver Springs; and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 14, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Mark Bass officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, May 15, at noon at the Indian Creek Cemetery.
