Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC) Dine & Donate Begins – May 12
On May 12th, the following restaurants will be donating a significant portion of their sales to ADFAC, a local nonprofit working to provide hope and stability to our less fortunate neighbors:  Buddy’s bar-b-q, El Cantarito, Emma Lou Bakery, and Razzleberry’s in Oak Ridge and Hoskins Restaurant in Clinton.   For additional information, please visit, www.adfac.org.
Ballroom Dancing – Every Monday, 6:30 p.m.
Location:  Wildcat Den Room of the Midtown Community Center.

Atomic Energy is a LIFE magazine exhibition – thru May 31

 “Journeys” – Celebrating the Long & Winding Road of Life – May 17

Majestic Saint-Saens Organ Symphony – ORCO Concert – May 17
Location:  First Baptist Church Sanctuary – Corner of the Oak Ridge Turnpike and LaFayette Drive.  Time:  2:00pm
This is probably the most impressive symphony that one can find.  It is unique because of the dominant role played by the organ, especially in the finale, where it builds the foundation for a glorious finish.  Admission is FREE, but a modest donation at the door to support the orchestra’s routine operating expenses will be appreciated.  For more information about this event, visit www.OakRidgeCommunityOrchestra.com.
 
Enjoy Beautiful Music at the Oak Ridge Public Library! – May 18

Oak Ridge Community Band Memorial Day Concert – May 26
Location:  A.K. Bissell Park – 1403 Oak Ridge Turnpike.  Time:  7:00pm

ORAU has raised more than $1 million over the past 10 years through this campaign. A total of $126,839 was pledged during the 2024 ORAU Annual Giving Campaign. Employees donate via payroll deduction and could earmark their donation for United Way, Community Shares or both. “ORAU has remained a strong pillar in the community for more than 75 years, and we encourage our employees to consider participating in our annual giving campaign each year to help our less fortunate neighbors in need,” said ORAU President and CEO Andy Page. “Each one of our employees has the power to positively impact the lives of those who need help in the communities where we do business across the country and demonstrate the ORAU way – taking care of each other.” ORAU, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, provides science, health and workforce solutions that address national priorities and serve the public interest. Through our specialized teams of experts and access to a consortium of more than 150 major Ph.D.-granting institutions, ORAU works with federal, state, local and commercial customers to provide innovative scientific and technical solutions and help advance their missions.
