Ryan Spitzer, a candidate for judge in General Sessions Court, Division I, has named Patti Shelton as his campaign treasurer, a press release said.
Shelton is a former director of Girls Inc. of Oak Ridge, and she is a community volunteer in many organizations, the press release said.
“Ryan has knowledge of the law and a professional demeanor that will serve him well as a judge, and I’m excited to be working on his campaign,†Shelton said. “He is my son-in-law, and I have come to know him as a caring and sincere member of our family who gives 150 percent to whatever he does.â€
Shelton has also served as director of Oak Ridge’s 50th Birthday Celebration and director of the city’s first Recycling Center. She served on the Oak Ridge Board of Education from 1993-1997 and directed Girls Inc. from 1994-2005. As a community volunteer, Shelton serves as secretary/treasurer of the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau. She is past president of Altrusa International of Oak Ridge and a member of the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge.
“I’m delighted to have Patti serve as my campaign treasurer,†said Spitzer, who is married to Tracy Loch Spitzer, Shelton’s daughter. They have one son, Rogan. “Her kind heart and abundant energy makes her a wonderful grandmother and mother-in-law and a fantastic source of energy and enthusiasm my campaign.”
Spitzer, an attorney with more than a decade of legal experience in criminal and civil law, is an Anderson County assistant district attorney general, the press release said. He has served as an assistant DA since 2007 and prosecutes those charged with crimes in General Sessions, Juvenile and Criminal courts of Anderson County. He is unopposed as the Democratic candidate for General Sessions judge in the May 6 primary election.
Serving with Shelton on Spitzer’s campaign committee are Tracy Spitzer, Ron Shelton, Carol Smallridge, Gail Martin, Judy Craig, Bobby Joe Higgs, Marlene Myers, and Kay Brookshire.
