Registration for the 2014 Summer Camp sponsored by the Oak Ridge Recreation and Parks Department will begin on Tuesday, April 1. A link to ActiveNet online registration will be available at www.orrecparks.org and www.oakridgetn.gov.

All applicants should create an online profile/account since camp information will be distributed to parents through ActiveNet email. Online registration is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week while walk-in registration is only available during regular Civic Center hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday, a press release said. Payment can be made online with a credit card or the applicant can pay with cash or check at the Civic Center. Convenience fees will apply for all credit card payments. The city’s summer camp fills up fast, so early registration is advised.

The $85-per-week fee covers field trip admission, transportation, special events, and one camp T-shirt. Additional shirts are available for purchase. There is a $10 per child non-resident fee where applicable. For an additional cost, swimming lessons will be offered to campers during certain weeks of camp. Dates and fees will be listed on the registration site. The City Summer Camp calendar is available at www.orrecparks.org and www.oakridgetn.gov.

A camp open house will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Camp will begin on June 9 and run for eight consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday. There will be no camp on Friday, July 4. Participants should be six to 12 years of age. Five-year-olds who have completed kindergarten and will be six by Aug. 31 are also eligible.

Early drop off begins at 7:30 a.m., and late pick up is 5:30 p.m. Daily camp activities and special events will take place at the Oak Ridge Civic Center, Bissell Park, and the outdoor Municipal Pool. Field trips will include Frozen Head State Park, Tinseltown, Cedar Hill Park, The Knoxville Zoo, MagiQuest, Adventures Outdoors, Oak Ridge Bowling Center, Tri-County Roll Arena, Kentucky Splash Water Park, The Lost Sea, American Museum of Science and Energy, Jump Jam, McFee Park, Cool Sports, and Tataru’s Gymnastics.
