Joy R. Jackson, age 72, of Coalfield passed away Wednesday, March 5, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.

She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and cooking family dinners for her children. She loved her daily visits from her grandson, Noah. She was once told that she was appropriately named “Joy” because she brought so much joy to the lives of everyone she met!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Eva Louise Roberts; husband, Cecil Jackson; sons, David Powell and Cecil Jackson Jr.; great-granddaughter, Charli Beth; and brothers, Tom and Bill Roberts.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Michael Powell and wife Diane, Scott Jackson and wife Tiffany; daughter, Sherry McGhee and husband, David, all of Coalfield; grandchildren, Margaret McGhee and Noah Jackson; great-granddaughter, Maddi Dotson; and a host of other family members, neighbors, and friends.

The family received friends on Saturday, March 8, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the new chapel with funeral services following. Bro. Garvan Walls officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Jackson Funeral Services is honored to serve the Jackson family. We invite you to share your thoughts and memories with the family at www.jacksonfuneralservices.com.
